The original house, built in 1960, had some unpermitted additions that needed to be redesigned, and the site, which commands sweeping views, had become overgrown with large trees blocking much of the view. The challenge was to sensitively approach creating a new home while preserving its past. Using subtle Asian influenced design elements that reflect the owner’s heritage, Marrokal recreated this home’s interior to include views from all rooms and a contemporary pagoda-like exterior complete with draught-resistant landscaping and a private interior garden.
