Many homeowners start with a referral or a glance down their street to see which companies might be remodeling in their neighborhood. While these methods might produce good results, another option is to have a look at which companies are being recognized for their commitment to operate ethically in the remodeling industry.
Marrokal Design & Remodeling received the Marketplace Ethics award for 2015 (making this its fifth win) at the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Awards 18th annual program this month.
It’s more than an award, it’s an indication of whom you can trust in the remodeling industry.
The BBB Seal and Torch Award are known as a trusted mark. A win in this category is given to companies who have a commitment to ethical business practices internally and externally. A company can win this award only if its practices are ethical, reliable, and responsive to customers, employees, and vendors.
“In the remodeling industry homeowners are often confused about who to trust,” says Gary Marrokal, CEO of Marrokal Design & Remodeling. His company began more than 40 years ago in San Diego. “For decades, we’ve been proving to homeowners that we put them first. That’s why so many people know they can trust their home to us.”

When industries boom, there is increased risk. As more contractors come into an industry, it becomes difficult to find the right contractor for a remodel.

How to find the right contractor involves asking the right questions before you begin the project. It’s important that you feel comfortable and that you make sure the contractor has a good understanding of the work and scope of your remodel before you allow the company into your home.
